In order to obtain the desired result in endoscopy, please read and implement the following carefully before endoscopy.
Reasons for prescribing endoscopy and how to do it
Endoscopy is a diagnostic procedure that allows the doctor to examine the upper gastrointestinal tract more closely.
This work is done by a specialist doctor to diagnose problems in the upper digestive system.
An endoscope is a specialized device that consists of a narrow and flexible tube with a camera attached to one end and is used to observe the internal organs and blood vessels of the body.

The main applications of gastrointestinal endoscopy are:

• Upper gastrointestinal bleeding
• Examination of tumors and cancer diagnosis
• Esophageal obstruction
• Gastrointestinal Reflux Disease (GERD)
• Ulcers
• Unspecified bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract
• Burning the wound and preventing bleeding
• Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) such as ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease
• Chronic constipation
• Infections
• Gastrointestinal symptoms that are resistant to treatment or are associated with danger symptoms
• New gastrointestinal symptoms in patients over 60 years old
• Difficulty swallowing, including food sticking or painful swallowing
• Intractable reflux
• Digestive bleeding
• Anemia
• Iron deficiency anemia
• Whenever sampling is needed for any reason
• In some cases, chronic diarrhea
• Screening in people with Mary Barrett's disease
• Stomach cancer screening in some special cases
• Screening for esophageal and gastric varicose in patients with cirrhosis

• Removal of polyps
• Widening the narrows
• Treatment of achalasia

Preparation for endoscopy
A person who goes for an endoscopy should not eat for 8-10 hours before and the stomach should be completely empty so that the examination can be done easily. If the stomach is full, it is not possible to perform the operation, and there is a possibility that the person will experience nausea, vomiting, and the entry of food into the respiratory tract. Water and liquids can be consumed up to 3-4 hours before the operation time.
Important notes:
* In case of pregnancy, drug addiction, having any heart and lung disease, diabetes and taking certain medications, the doctor should be informed before the procedure. Some medicines, such as blood thinners, should not be taken a few days before, because they cause problems with blood coagulation and bleeding may occur during the procedure.
* The patient must bring any documents related to his current or previous illnesses.

* During endoscopy, sedatives or light anesthesia are used under the supervision of an anesthesiologist so that the patient does not feel uncomfortable, that is why there is a need for an accompanying person.
* People who take blood pressure medicine do not need to change their use and can take their medicine according to the previous routine. Only for people with diabetes, sometimes the dose of drugs may be reduced with the doctor's opinion.
* Having any drug and food allergies should be reported to the doctor so that it can be taken into account during anesthesia.
* It can be useful to consume natural honey juice up to 4 hours before the start of the procedure to prevent blood sugar drop.
* After the operation, there is no special food avoidance and the patient can have his normal diet except in cases where the doctor diagnoses.
* Avoid activities that require concentration such as driving and working with dangerous machines for 6 hours after the operation.
* Women's menstrual period does not interfere with endoscopic surgery and does not cause any problems.
* Do not bring gold, jewelry, ornaments, phone, false teeth and any other valuable items into the operating room.
* In case of swelling and bruising at the serum injection site, cold water compress should be used in that area.
